ELEVATOR WORLD Editorial Staff


Ricia S. Hendrick, President and Publisher, grew up with the magazine. She was named manager of Advertising and Production for the company in 1966, after college and working as a staff artist for a Minneapolis-based company. She moved to the editorial side of the magazine in 1976 when she became managing editor. Hendrick was named publisher in 1986 and president in 1995. Active in many industry organizations, including the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation, she was recognized with the National Association of Elevator Contractors' William C. Sturgeon Distinguished Service Award in 2002.

 

Robert S. Caporale, Senior Vice President and Editor, joined the company in 1993 as associate editor and was promoted to editor in April 1998. Before joining ELEVATOR WORLD, he worked as an associate with the engineering firm Jaros, Baum and Bolles and later as vice president and director with Syska and Hennessey Engineers. Caporale is a member of the National Association of Vertical Transportation Professionals and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and is a NAESA International certified elevator inspector. He holds an MSc degree in Lift Engineering from University College Northampton.

 

Terri Wagner, Editorial Manager, has been with EW since October 1995. She started in the Commercial division and moved to Editorial in August 1997. Wagner has worked in the medical/business field and the public transportation field with a stint at retail. She holds a degree from the University of Alabama and paralegal certification from Louisiana State University.

 

 

David M. Clothier, Senior News Editor, has been with EW since August 2000. A graduate of Auburn University, he began working as a reporter for the Baldwin County (Alabama) Newspaper Group shortly after college. He later served as a correspondent and editor for several publications based in Mobile, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida. Interspersed with these newspaper jobs, Clothier worked in public relations. He is a past president of the Mobile Chapter of the Public Relations Council of Alabama.

 

Lee Freeland, Associate Editor, has worked for EW since 2005, spending time as both proofreader and copy editor. He holds an English degree from the University of South Alabama and has authored numerous articles for EW. Before joining the company, Freeland worked as a farm and ranch manager and interim choir director. He has held various leadership positions in the Mobile County (Alabama) Young Farmers Federation and is currently the group's secretary.


 

Deloris D. Browder, Editorial Administrative Associate, has worked for EW since 1995. Prior to that, she worked in the medical business field. Browder holds an associate degree in business from Carver Technical College.

Angela C. Baldwin, Proofreader and Freelance Writer, joined the company in January 2008. A graduate of Spring Hill College, where she obtained BA and MLA degrees, Baldwin began her career as managing editor for Mobile Bay Monthly, the city magazine for Mobile, Alabama. She later joined the Spring Hill College staff, where she served as director of communications for the college. For the past eight years, Baldwin has worked primarily as a freelance feature writer, editor and public relations practitioner. She currently teaches journalism at the University of South Alabama.
