Laser Power Beaming Video
LaserMotive, an R&D company specializing in laser power beaming and winner of the Power Beaming Competition segment of the 2009 Space Elevator Games, has produced a video on laser power beaming, the wireless transfer of energy over distances using laser light. An article on the release of the video was included in the U.S. Industry News section of the September 2010 ELEVATOR WORLD. The video features a variety of demonstrations and uses of the technology, including a fully functional field-demonstrated laser power beaming system. The video can be viewed in this month's Online Extras.
 
Annual CECA and Elevator U Meetings
The September issue of EW includes reports on the annual meetings of Elevator U by Ricia S. Hendrick and the Canadian Elevator Contractors Association (CECA) by Lee Freeland. As is often the case, coverage of both events included more photos than the space in the magazine allowed, so many of these are included in slide shows of Elevator U and CECA that can be found in this month's Online Extras.

Future Issues of ELEVATOR WORLD
In upcoming issues, EW will spotlight some unusual projects around the globe, including the escalators at the MyZeil shopping center in Germany, the inclined lift on the cliffs of Padstow in the U.K. and the elevator on the Chifeng Bridge in Tianjin, China.
