Service with a Smile
Collection Fifteen
When the installation was officially accepted by the architect/engineer, for the owner, it was time for the maintenance man to assure the on-going functioning of the elevator plant, as it had been specified and as the owner/manager expected. These maintaining specialists were also fair game for the satirist who lumped inspectors in with the contractors' service men. They were depicted as sloppy, lazy, irreverent, untutored and absent-minded -- to name a few of the attributes applied by the cartoonist! (Chapter Fifteen).
