PROMOTIONS ANNOUNCED AT WENNSOFT

WennSoft™ recently announced a number of changes to its executive management team. CEO Jim Wenninger has promoted Julie West to president and chief operating officer, Tim Kennedy to executive vice president and Kerry Draper to vice president of Professional Services. In addition, WennSoft announced the expansion of its executive management team from three to seven seats. The current three seats are held by Wenninger, West and Kennedy. Joining the executive management team of WennSoft are Draper; Mike Neuser, director of Sales; Tom Cunningham, director of Marketing; and Jeff Schilling, controller/treasurer. WennSoft provides business-management solutions for both public- and private-sector organizations that focus on project-oriented, field service and equipment/fleet management.

700-METER SKYSCRAPER IN DISPUTE

Leading real-estate development company Lujiazui Group has disputed reports that it intended to build a 700-meter skyscraper in Shanghai. A 1993 plan calls for three trademark towers in the financial district. The first was the 420.5-meter Jinmao Tower, and the 492-meter Shanghai World Financial Tower is currently in construction. However, the company states that the height of the third tower and its design are not yet decided. Shanghai has more than 300 high rises rising more than 100 meters into the air.

NORFOLK DEVELOPMENT WOULD INCLUDE CITY'S TALLEST

Sunsations Realty has proposed a multi-building development across the Elizabeth River from downtown Norfolk, Virginia. According to The Virginian-Pilot, the project would include three residential buildings: one 31 stories tall and two at 15 stories. The development would offer 310 condominiums. The developer will front the property with a public walkway along the waterfront.

ESCALATOR ACCIDENTS IN WALES

According to the South Wales Echo, two separate accidents injured young children riding on an escalator in a supermarket in Cwmbach, Aberdare, the U.K. A three-year-old boy recently got his hand stuck in the handrail of a new escalator in the store. He was rescued by firefighters, and his fractured hand was treated at a hospital. A month ago, a two-year-old boy fractured his fingers when his hand was pulled into the top of the escalator on which he was riding at the supermarket.
